When Kajol got a ‘NO’ from Shah Rukh Khan for a birthday visit

When it comes to Bollywood on screen pairings, there is hardly any duo that has achieved the love and adulation that Kajol and Shah Rukh Khan do even today. The two were the dream on screen duo in the 90s and early 2000s. They have given some of the biggest blockbusters of Indian cinema. And their off-screen friendship is even more amazing and heartwarming.

However, as amazing as their friendship is, there was a time when SRK told his friend not to visit him on his birthday. While it might sound a bit too controversial, the reason behind it is just heart melting.

When Shah Rukh Khan said ‘NO’ to Kajol…

Last year, during a podcast appearance, Kajol reflected on her friendship with SRK. She had said, “Shah Rukh is one of those people who recognised very early on who he was on screen, who he was expected to be, and pretty much lived up to those expectations.”

Sharing an example of that, she recalled, “I remember once on his birthday, I was like, ‘It’s your birthday, I’m coming to see you’. He said, ‘Come, come, but today’s not a good day’. I said, ‘Why?’ He said, ‘I have to go out, I have to meet all these people, give interviews. At the end of the day, my birthday’s not my own anymore. I belong to these people’. And that’s who he is.”

SRK is called the ‘Badshah’ not just for the sake of it, he truly proves that with his behaviour. Even till date, he makes sure to make an appearance for his fans at his house Mannat on his birthday. The superstar greets them with warmth and just shows what true superstardom is.

Kajol-Shah Rukh Khan history…

Kajol and SRK first appeared on screen together in the 1993 Baazigar. Post that, they did several films together, becoming one of the most successful on-scree duos in Bollywood. Their filmography boasts blockbusters like Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham and many others. The duo last appeared together in the 2015 film Dilwale. Earlier there were some reports that said Kajol might star in SRK’s Dunki which made their fans quite excited.

Kajol deleted her Instagram posts

On Friday morning, Kajol shocked her fans when through an Instagram post, she announced taking a break from social media. She deleted all her previous posts on the platform and just kept this recent one. It had a picture with full black background and the text, “Facing one of the toughest trials of my life.” Kajol’s move has left her fans quite worried. Why it happened and what lies next, is yet to be seen.

Kajol and Shah Rukh Khan upcoming movies

On the work front, the actress appeared in the emotional drama Salaam Venky last year in December. Up next, Kajol has her OTT debut on Disney+ Hotstar. Reportedly, she is also featuring in a Dharma Productions’ film which will serve as the acting debut of Ibrahim Ali Khan.

As for Shah Rukh, he delivered the biggest hit of the year till date with Pathaan. Next up, he has two big releases, including Atlee’s Jawan and Rajkumar Hirani’s Dunki.
