When Madhuri Dixit revealed she would not marry Anil Kapoor, Here’s why

Actors Anil Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit have worked together in plenty of movies in the 90s. They first worked together in Hifazat and later on went on to work on several popular films, including Tezaab, Beta, Khel, Parinda, and more. In fact, Madhuri and Anil were considered to be one of the hottest onscreen pairs of the 90s. Having said that, there were plenty of fans wanted to see Anil Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit together as a couple or as a married couple. 

However, that was never going to happen as Anil was not the ideal man that Madhuri dreamt of. Earlier, when asked in 1989 whether she would wed her co-star Anil Kapoor, Madhuri responded by saying ‘No’, citing that he is hypersensitive. She told, “I wouldn’t marry someone like him. For one thing, he is too hypersensitive, I would like my husband to be cool. As for Anil, I have done so many films with him, so I am comfortable with him. I can even joke with him about our supposed affair.”

Nevertheless, in 1984, Sunita Kapoor and Anil Kapoor got married and became parents of Sonam Kapoor, Rhea Kapoor and Harshvarrdhan Kapoor. On the other hand, Madhuri married Dr. Shriram Nene on October 17, 1999, and headed to the US. The couple has two sons Arin and Ryan.

On Madhuri Dixit’s 55th birthday, Anil Kapoor took to his Twitter handle and shared a collage of throwback pictures with the birthday girl. “The Best Period. Happy Birthday to my dear friend @madhuridixitnene,” he wrote with the picture.

Madhuri and Anil came together again onscreen in Total Dhamaal where they were seen as onscreen husband and wife. The film was released in 2019.
