You’ll fall short of words if you try to describe Amitabh Bachchan. The megastar has been an inspiration to many in the film industry and otherwise. There are countless admirers out there who grew up watching his movies. Be it his dialogues, fight scenes or songs, everything has left a lasting impact on his admirers. The year was 1981, when one such song of Big B became an instant chartbuster and today is considered to be an iconic dance track. No points for guessing, it is the cult song ‘Sara Zamana Haseeno Ka Deewana’, and it was today on October 23, when the film ‘Yaarana’ released which featured this iconic number.
The song was composed by Rajesh Roshan while the lyrics were penned by late veteran lyricist Anjaan. And who can forget the picturisation of this song that still makes Big B the ultimate rockstar winning over hearts of everyone. Even Big B had written a blog recalling the memories from the sets of this movie. He shared, “Most talked about of course was the song with the lit jacket (referring to ‘Sara Zamana’), which was my idea and the location to shoot it in Kolkata at the Netaji Subhas Stadium recently constructed then, was also my input.. and what a moment..” Reportedly, it is said that during the shoot of the song, the light bulb outfit went on and off via a switch which was firmly placed in Big B’s hand only. He pressed the switch on-off in tune with the beats of the song. (Also Read: Did you know? Amitabh was dropped from his first film with Jaya after just 10 days of shooting)
‘Sara Zamana’ instantly became a hit among music lovers and one of the prime credit for it goes to the magical vocals of none other than playback singer Kishore Kumar. In fact, ‘Sara Zamana’ is one of the best songs that yet again witnessed the deadly combination of Amitabh Bachchan and singer Kishore Kumar. There’s no doubt that the youth still connects to ‘Sara Zamana’ and perhaps this is the reason why it was even recreated in Hrithik Roshan-starrer ‘Kaabil’ (2017). This recreated track ‘Haseeno Ka Deewana’ featured the sensuous actress Urvashi Rautela.
Talking about the film ‘Yaarana’, it was directed by Rakesh Kumar and starred Neetu Kapoor, Amjad Khan, Tanuja, Kader Khan, Jeevan and Ranjeet.
Well, this day is indeed a special one, don’t you think? It made us witness Amitabh Bachchan, the true rockstar with a song like ‘Sara Zamana’ that eventually went on to win numerous hearts.
