Bajirao Mastani (2015)
This historical romantic drama is set on the backdrop of early 18th century in Maharashtra. Peshwa Bajirao (Ranveer Singh) travels to Bundelkhand to help them fight invaders where he meets and falls in love with Mastani (Deepika Padukone). Bajirao gifts Mastani his dagger, which according to the local custom means that he has accepted Mastani as his wife. Eventually, Mastani leaves Bundelkhand and reaches Pune to be with Bajirao. But Bajirao is already married to Kashi Bai (Priyanka Chopra) and Mastani is from a Muslim origin which leads to an immediate disapproval from Bajirao's mother. Amidst hardest obstacles, their love grows. 'Bajirao Mastani' is not just a romantic saga but is also a tale of diplomatic politics of achieving power, hypocrisies that bank upon caste and colours, and suffocating social norms. The film earned 357 Cr. worldwide.
Goliyon ki Raasleela Ram Leela (2013)
This is a creative adaptation of William Shakespeare's 'Romeo & Juliet'. In rural Gujarati, Rajadi and Sanera clans have been in bad terms for a few centuries now. Meanwhile a Rajadi guy (Ranveer Singh) and a Sanera girl (Deepika Padukone) fall in love with each other and elope. However, they are unable to escape Leela's family as Ram's friends betray them and inform Leela's family about their location. It is an intense but unfinished love story with beautiful songs and extravagant sets.
Guzaarish (2010)
'Guzaarish' is considered to be one the finest performances of Hrithik Roshan's career so far. Hrithik plays a paralysed magician who has appealed for Euthanasia. Aishwarya Rai is his nurse for last 12 years. However, his plea is rejected. Aishwarya who is suffering an unhappy marriage and is deeply in love with Hrithik, decides to end the pain for Hrithik. Before Hrithik bids his final happy good bye, he proposes to Aishwarya. 'Guzaarish' was not a huge box office success but it remains a milestone in Roshan's career and at the same time amused us with the layers of emotions, and the soul stirring moments of unconditional love, pang of a slow but uncontrollable death.
Black (2007)
Michelle (Rani Mukerji) is a deaf, mute and blind girl and Debraj Sahai (Amitabh Bachchan) is her teacher. 'Black' is a story how with the help of a teacher, an expressionless girl finds expressions in her mute life, achieves academic qualification. With the course of time, Alzheimer's takes over Debraj entirely, making him lose all his memories. His memory comes back on seeing Michelle in a graduation robe. 'Black' is an extraordinary story of a student and a teacher, both helpless in their own ways who complement each other.
Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (2015)
Nandini (Aishwarya Rai) is the daughter of Pandit Darbar (Vikram Gokhale) , who is an eminent name in Indian Classical Music. She falls in love with Sameer (Salman Khan) who has come to learn classical music from her father. However, Pandit Darbar hs already fixed his daughter's marriage with Vanraj (Ajay Devgn). She eventually is married to Vanraj but he soon finds out that his wife is not in love with him. He promises Nandini to find Sameer and he does so. However, in the mean time, Nandini realises that Vanraj loves her unconditionally and goes back to him. This was one of Bhansali's earliest films and was very popular among the viewers.
