Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli: The ups and downs of their love story

Fingers crossed!

You never know when a relationship takes an unexpected turn. Both Virat and Anushka were visibly upset after the split. However, to much of our happiness, Anushka recently called Virat to congratulate him on his wonderful performance against Pakistan in a T20 match during the ICC World T20. Following this, they were soon spotted dining together at a restaurant in Bandra one night. This certainly kindled expectations that the two might patch up. Well, we never know how life unfolds. Here’s hoping Virat and Anushka find their own happiness soon!

They parted ways…

Apparently, Virat was ready to take their relationship to the next level and wanted to tie the knot. However, Anushka was not quite ready for this. She is at the peak of her career right now and she found it wise only to concentrate on the professional front for now. This eventually resulted in a break up. We loved this couple, and we were heartbroken to know that they had parted ways.

From light to darkness

From wearing similar dog-tag chains to fighting with the world (especially journalists) over their relationship, Anushka and Virat came a long way together. However, it was recently that things turned bitter between the two.

Ahem.. Mrs Kohli?

Anushka was addressed as cricketer 'Virat Kohli's wife' by Australian presenter Michael Slater during his commentary on the final day of the third test between Australia and India at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in 2014. After realising his mistake, he hurriedly described the actress as Virat's 'fiancee'!

As straight as a sixer

When Kohli was asked to comment on his relationship with Anushka, he replied, "Jo hai sabke saamne hai (Whatever is there, it is in front of everyone). We are not hiding anything, we are not trying to hide anything; I don't want to hide anything But if you keep asking about the same thing again and again, and it becomes a matter of debate, then it does not feel right for both the individuals concerned."

The sweetest confession

Interestingly, it was during the promotions of ‘PK’ where we saw a more candid and chilled-out Anushka. The question, that she used to dodge, was finally answered with no second thoughts. In an interview to NDTV, the actress revealed that she is in a relationship with the cricketer. This is what Anushka said in the video... “We are just being two normal young people in a relationship. But being public figure, relationship becomes a topic of entertainment and for me it is not that. For me it is very, very pure. I don’t want to put it out there to be discussed over a cup of coffee.”

Getting back to happiness

Be it a photograph of Anushka and Virat at the dinner hosted by the Indian High Commission in Sydney, or their candid click returning late night at the hotel room, all this just proved that their relationship was going strong and steady. Both Virat and Anushka climbed up the ladder of success steadily as well.

The sad days

Well just like any other couple, Virat and Anushka too had their share of highs and lows. Apparently, the couple had a major fight over one of Anushka's photoshoots. As per reports, Virat was upset about a racy photo of Anushka on the cover of a men's magazine. Virat called up Anushka and expressed his displeasure over the skin show. Reportedly, this didn't go down well with Anushka, and they had a major tiff over the phone.

A toast to his lady

Kohli was in Melbourne to play in the India-Australia Test series, and Anushka joined him. Pictures of the cricketer blowing a kiss at Anushka after he scored a century in one of the matches during the series, followed. Thereafter, a photo of Anushka and Virat taking a stroll at the Darling Harbour, Sydney also took social media by storm. The couple reportedly celebrated Christmas and New Year in Australia.

Our Bollywood queen was also not behind when it came to donning the role of an ‘ideal girlfriend’ in real life. Despite her busy schedule, Anushka left no stone unturned to cheer on her sweetheart.

When SRK turned Cupid!

While the world waited for Anushka and Virat to spill the beans on their relationship, it was Shah Rukh Khan who finally made Virat accept this fact. At an IPL opening ceremony, King Khan organised a mock swaymwar for Kohli. Virat was asked to pick a potential bride out of the eight contenders. And Virat went on to choose Anushka as his perfect bride, leaving very little to the imagination of the audience.

Virat’s act of love

Anushka was shooting in Jodhpur on her 26th birthday and Virat was out of India. However, just like any doting boyfriend, Virat decided to surprise Anushka and flew down from UAE in the middle of IPL series to spend quality time with his ladylove.

The hush-hush mode

Their ‘hide and seek’ with paparazzi continued. And, on and off, the pictures of these two on dinner dates continued popping up. We already had hints that something was cooking.

‘Just friends’?

However, the couple were in denial mode. On 'Koffee with Karan', Anushka categorically denied her relationship with Virat and referred to him as a ‘friend’ whom she called and texted. During that time, apart from Anushka’s ‘lip-job’, her closeness with Virat was what made it to the headlines.

Jab they met..

The speculations about Anushka and Virat’s relationship started after they shared screen space in an ad. And, soon people were ‘All Clear’ about their blooming love-affair. What fuelled the fire all the more was Virat being spotted at Anushka’s residence. Apparently, after the South Africa tour, when Team India arrived at the Mumbai airport, Anushka sent her car to receive Virat, which later took him to Anushka’s apartment.
