Struggle in Mumbai!
Entering the film industry was not a cakewalk for Kangana. She witnessed some really tough times, from sleeping on a pavement to making ends meet for necessities. But she did not give up on her dream of becoming a Bollywood actress. With the constant struggle to make it big, she bagged her debut film in the year 2006 when ace director Anurag Basu spotted her at a coffee shop and immediately decided to cast her in the film. Kangana, along with Emraan Hashmi and Shiney Ahuja, delivered a hit film, setting up a successful start to her career in Bollywood.
Distressed relationship with father
We all know that Kangana did not share a very good equation with her father. The lady belongs to a family where girls are considered as a burden. In one of her interviews, Kangana confessed that she was considered as a burden and was expected to get married away as soon as she completed her education. But she had big dreams and this led to a rift between her father and her. Kangana has gone on record and revealed that when she expressed her desire to become an actress, her father did not approve of this. She was then asked to leave the house and she did it! With not a single penny in her pocket, Kangana left Himachal Pradesh to embark on a new journey in the world of glamour.
Early life
Born at Bhambla, a small town in Himachal Pradesh, Kangana Ranaut had a very humble upbringing. Being an extremely hardworking and studious kid, her family wanted her to pursue a career in medicine and become a doctor. Hence, after her schooling she enrolled in a medical college in Shimla but destiny had something else in store for her. Though she tried her level best to complete her education, her fondness for acting forced her to leave her education mid-way. At the age of 16, Kangana opted out of college and joined the Elite School of Modelling in Delhi and explored the arena of theatre.
A gradual start!
Post ‘Gangster’, Kangana appeared in films like ‘Woh Lamhe’, and ‘Life In A Metro’. Critics did appreciate her performance, but it was considered to be a dull start for the lady. With these films, she couldn’t emerge as a heroine who can carry the burden of a film on her shoulders solely. Then in the year 2008, Madhur Bhandarkar presented his finest work till date in the form of ‘Fashion’. The movie starring Priyanka Chopra and Kangana Ranaut proved to be a game changer for both the actresses. Though PC was the main subject of the film, Kangana’s performance was highly appreciated. Her portrayal of a supermodel who takes to substance abuse in ‘Fashion’ won her the National Award for the Best Supporting Actress. Some of the critics also mentioned that Kangana was the actual hero of the film and not Priyanka.
Love gone wrong!
The episode of Kangana’s alleged love affair with Aditya Pancholi is not hidden. The lady did not have a backing of a godfather and considered Aditya to be her mentor. Despite Aditya being married and having two children, Kangana dared to love him and was in a live-in relationship with him. But, their love affair soon turned sour and the two called it quits. Unfortunately, their fallout was an ugly one with Kangana being subjected to physical assault. In an interview, she was quoted saying, “This man who was my father’s age hit me hard on my head. I started bleeding. I took out my sandal and hit him hard on head and he started to bleed too. I lodged an FIR against the man.’
The downfall!
Kangana Ranaut made some poor choices leading to a fading career. All thanks to her mistakes, Kangana lost the tag of a promising actress in Bollywood. After featuring in a successful ventures like ‘Once Upon a Time In Mumbaai’ and ‘Tanu Weds Manu’, Kangana delivered a series of flops in the year 2011 in the form of ‘Game’, ‘Rascals’ and ‘Double Dhamaal’. Looking at the characters she played in these films, her fans wondered as to why the lady even opted for these roles. It was a sheer disappointment to watch Kangana featuring in such roles. The year 2012 was also not that great for her as she featured in a film called ‘Tezz’ which tanked at the box-office.
The path of victory!
Finally in the year 2013, Kangana bagged a role which could establish her as a fine actress. Her role in 'Krissh 3' as Kaya called for a critical acclaim for the diva. This was then followed by her brilliant performance in 'Queen'. Vikas Bahl's directorial, 'Queen', proved that there's nothing that Kangana can't achieve. In the year 2015, 'Tanu Weds Manu Returns' marked the glorious stand of Kangana in the industry. With such excellent films in her kitty, no one will ever doubt the credibility and potential of an outstanding actress like Kangana! Way to go girl!
Kangana Ranaut is the undisputed ‘Queen’ of Bollywood. With stardom to be proud of, this lady has carved a niche for herself in the industry. Sheer perseverance to make it big in the film industry has led her to the pinnacle of success in a short, yet challenging career in Bollywood. But this journey hasn’t been a cakewalk for the actress.
