Both the love birds were so excited about getting married that after 3 months after their engagement they got married to each other on 20th April, 2007. The wedding costed Mr. Bachchan a whooping ₹2 crore (as per sources say). Everybody from Bollywood celebrites, politicians and businessmen had arrived as guests.

It was after the launch of Guru and the duo were spending some time in New York when Abhishek Bachchan decided to propose his lady love. He did it with all his emotions attached. He is so kind at heart that during the shoot of Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna he actually cried, when he told Rani Mukherji that his father's character in the movie was no more.
