Baahubali: The Beginning
Baahubali: The Beginning is the most expensive production in the history of Indian cinema to date. The film was shot using Arri Alexa XT camera, marking Rajamouli's first film to use digital cameras; the principal photography began at Rock Gardens in Kurnool. A massive set was constructed at the Ramoji film city resembling the city of Mahishmati.
Bajirao Mastani
Bajirao Mastani is the upcoming film of Sanjay Leela Bhansali starring Ranveer Singh, Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone. A major portion of the film will be shot in Mumbai's Film City Studios. For the outdoor sequences, Bhansali has finalised Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Wai of Maharashtra and Amer Fort in Jaipur.
Bombay Velvet
The filming of Bombay Velvet was done in Colombo, Galle, and Pasikudah. Another shot was done in Sri Lanka where the whole city was re created depicting Bombay of the 1960's which took 10 months to build it.
Devdas
Devdas is a romantic drama film directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali starring Shah Rukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai and Madhuri Dixit. The major part of the movie was filmed at Dharavi, Mumbai, recreating the early 20th century Calcutta. Chandramukhi's kotha was constructed next to an artificial lake, to make it look like a set in Benaras on the Ganges. A temple city surrounded the set, for which inspiration was taken from the Dilwara Temples in Rajasthan. For the creation of Paro's room in a haveli 12,20,00,008 pieces of stained glass were used. Additionally, there were a few accidents on set during the making, resulting in the death of 2 people.
Jodhaa Akbar
Jodhaa Akbar is an Indian epic historical drama film released on 15 February 2008. It is directed and produced by Ashutosh Gowariker starring Aishwarya Rai and Hrithik Roshan. Over 80 elephants, 100 horses and 55 camels were used in the movie. The song "Azeem O Shan, Shahenshah" featured about 1,000 dancers in traditional costumes, wielding swords and shields at a grand location in Karjat. The budget of the film was initially ₹370 million, which shot up to ₹400 million.
Lootera
Both the celebrities, Sonakshi Sinha and Ranveer Singh attended workshops for the look of the character, body language, speech as the film was set in Bengal in the era of the 1950's. Certain scenes were canned at Kalatop, close to Dalhousie. The team shoot at Dalhousie wherein scenes that were left out to be filmed in the snow were shot by creating a set under artificial snowy conditions in summer season.
Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela
Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela was shot in Udaipur particularly at Udaipur palace and Gangaur Ghat where a song sequence was shot. Deepika Padukone was injured on set; however she had to continue shooting as an expensive set was put up at Film City for the song "Nagada Sang Dhol."
Prem Ratan Dhan Payo
Prem Ratan Dhan Payo is an upcoming family drama film, directed by Sooraj Barjatya. Salman Khan will be seen in a double role. As 'Prem' he is a Prince while 'Vijay' is a fighter. Sooraj Barjatya has got his art director, Nitin Chandrakant Desai, to build him a Sheesh Mahal in his Karjat studio for this Salman Khan-Sonam Kapoor.
Saawariya
Saawariya is directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali starring Sonam Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor who made their debuts in Bollywood together. Elaborate sets for the imaginary city where the film is set, complete with lakes, streets, shops, signages and a clock tower, were designed by production designer Omung Kumar.
Welcome Back
Welcome Back is the upcoming film of Aneez Bazmee starring John Abraham, Shruti Haasan, Nana Patekar, Anil Kapoor and Paresh Rawal. To shoot a special song of this film 'Tuti Bole Wedding Di', Aneez Bazmee recreated Abu Dhabi's Emirates Palace in Mumbai's Film City for which he took 20 days to build it.
