‘Udta Punjab’: 5 reasons why we look forward to the film

Amit Trivedi is known for soulful compositions. 'Udta Punjab', however, is more of a reality check in a cinematic form. We are awaiting to see how Trivedi has coped with the film's mood with his composition.

A strong storyline

There have been films in Bollywood that have touched the issue of 'Substance Abuse'. However, a detailed narration of instance of drug abuse is always far more interesting. We remember Bijoy Nambiar's 'Shaitan' in this context. 'Udta Punjab', with its plot, promises to turn out as a factual thriller.

Alia Bhatt the immigrant

Alia Bhatt is probably going to play her career's most non-glamorous role so far, in 'Udta Punjab'. Even in 'Highway', she was not playing a typical glamorous chick but playing a Bihari immigrant who works in Amritsar as a labourer is surely something new for her. It would be worth a watch!

Shahid Kapoor’s power-packed character

Shahid Kapoor's 'Shaandar' was pretty much a disaster at the box office. The film gave him little chances of acting. However, we just can't get over the Shahid Kapoor we saw in 'Haidar'. The good part is, 'Udta Punjab' has a strong storyline and Shahid's character is going to be one with firm characteristics. Let's hope he makes a comeback with a bang.

Shahid Kapoor-Kareena Kapoor reunite again

The last time that Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan filmed together was for 'Jab We Met' post which, we only heard about the two together during the narration of their break-up saga. 'Udta Punjab' is the first film where the two would be seen together after their much publicized break-up. But the twist is, even for ‘Udta Punjab’ the two are not shooting together. However, the fact they both are there in the film, gives us tinges of excitement. May be the ice between the two will melt to a little extent?
