‘Bobby Jasoos’ – 2014
Samar Shaikh's directorial 'Bobby Jasoos' is a comedy-drama film, which was released in 2014. Although the film failed at the box office, Vidya's performance was out of box striking. Belonging to an orthodox Hyderabad'i' family and still reaching out to become a famous detective with small cases at a time. The whole plot portrayed by Balan was something extraordinary and we loved every bit of it!
‘Kahaani’ – 2012
Sujoy Ghosh's directorial 'Kahaani' released in 2012, it still manages to put on the edge of our seats while watching it! The movie has an impeccable storyline and Vidya Balan's performance was one of a kind. The movie concept was portrayed so beautiful by Vidya as 'Vidya Venkatesan-Bagchi' in the film. She even won a Filmfare award for Best Actress.
‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’ – 2007
Priyadarshan's directorial 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa' was released in 2007 and became an instant hit among all Bollywood buffs. Vidya Balan's role was an epic one, Remember 'Manjulika'! Her role suffered mental health problem 'dissociative identity disorder', so in the film, she portrayed two significant roles one of Avni a normal newly wedded girl and one of Manjulika, an Odissi dancer hailing from Bengal. The film was a thriller romantic horror and we laughed our guts out and also at the same time glued our eyes to the screen out of curiosity. Vidya has delivered one of the brilliant out of box performances in the film.
‘Paa’ – 2009
R. Balki's directorial 'Paa' has touched our lives in ways only a few movie could do. The movie makes you go through an emotional roller coaster ride, happy, sad, proud and overwhelmed. The film has been a spectacular one and would be called as one of the finest of Bollywood. Vidya Balan plays the role of Dr. Vidya (gynaecologist) and a mother of a 12-year-old child Auro, who suffers from progeria (an extremely rare genetic disorder) Mentally he is twelve and very normal, but physically he looks five times older. Balan has done complete justice to her character and her love as a mother for his son had our hearts melting away. She even received her first Filmfare award for Best Actress.
‘The Dirty Picture’ – 2011
Milan Luthria's directorial 'The Dirty Picture' is known as one of the most intriguing movies of all time. Vidya Balan who portrayed the role of Silk Smitha in the film was proof enough that no one else from b-town could have pulled off the role with so much ease and entertainment. The film was both a critical and commercial success, with Balan receiving the highest accolades for her performance; she was called "the hero of the film".

Even though she started off from television world she has managed to make a mark in the film industry.
