Hum Saath Saath Hain
In this movie a weathly father who has 3 sons wants his family to stay together, until his wife who gets influenced by her sisters and divides her own sons. Her love for one of her son is more than the other two. However, the son who is loved more by the mother is totally against her decision and tries everything to reunite his family. At last, the whole family is reunited and they stay happily ever after. Hence the title, Hum Saath - Saath Hain.
Waqt
Vipul Shah's Waqt is again a family drama which features Akshay Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan, Priyanka Chopra and Shefali Shah. The movie is all about changing priorities and how a father teaches a lesson to his son before his dies. He teaches him a leasson so that he can get stand on his own legs and not be dependent of the family. This movie will still leave tears in your eyes when the truth is revealed to the son.
Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham
Karan Johar's K3G tops all the list of the family drama. This movie is about a high profile family in which the father, Amitabh Bachchan, takes all the decisions regarding the family. His elder son, Shah Rukh Khan, falls in love with a girl, Kajol, who is from the middle class background. He listens to his heart and marries the girl and moves to London to start a new life. When all of this comes to light to his younger brother, Hrithik Roshan, who was not at home when all of this happened. He decides to finish the difference between his father and brother, reuniting the whole family. At the end of the movie, after a long struggle, he manages to reunite his family. The movie sends a beautiful message about loving your parents.
Dil Dhadakne Do
This is yet another family drama which is based on the high profile family. In this movie the Kamal Mehra ( Anil Kapoor) is a businessman who owns a company which is about to get bankrupt. He wants his son Kabir (Ranveer Singh) to handle his business but Kabir wants to become a pilot. Kamal Mehra's daughter is also not happy with her marriage. The whole story revolves around the family and their desires. Though at the end its a happy ending, where everyone gets what they want. The family unites and stays happy together.
Piku
Piku, which is a recent release mainly focuses on the relationship of a daughter who takes care of her demanding and hypochondriac father. In this movie, Amitabh Bachchan plays the character of a 70 year old man who suffers from chronic constipation and gastric problems. Piku, Deepika Padukone, who is shuffling her life between the work and father has developed into a strange, weird, irritating and annoying girl. In the whole movie piku's father never has a proper bowel motion and due to that he is always irritated like his daughter. After some family drama regarding the family house between Amitabh and his brother, he decides to ride a bicycle and start living the life like a normal man. Everybody in the family gets scared in his absence and when he arrives, his daughter scolds him. The next day morning he dies a peacful death in his bed. Piku later realises that her father had prepared her for living alone all these years. She also renames the family home to 'Bhaskor Villa' in her father's memory.
Baghban
Baghban is one of the most emotional movies in the history of Bollywood. In this movie Amitabh Bachchan plays the character of Raj Malhotra who along with his wife Pooja (Hema Malini) spends his entire life to raise his 4 sons and give them a better life. He also adopts a son who is an orphan (Salman Khan) and provides him with money so that he can pursue education. After his retirement when he is unable to afford his and his wife's expenses, their children split their parents. Its decided that 2 of the sons will keep each of the parent for 6 months. The children think the parents will refuse the offer and therefore, they will remain in their own place. The kids never wanted their parents to stay with them. The parents endure this separation along with the horroble treatment from their own children. At the end they move out of the home of their children and go back to their home.
Patiala House
The movie is about a Punjabi family which resides in London. Akshay Kumar who plays the character of Parghar Singh Kahlon, who wants to become a cricketer and fulfill his childhood dreams. On the other hand Gurtej Singh Kahlon, played by Rishi Kapoor, wants him to live a life which he thinks is better for him. Akshay Kumar however follows his dreams and becomes a cricketer without notifying his father. In the end Rishi Kapoor watched him play on feild and is impressed by his son's bowling. He also realises his mistake and apologises to his son.
