The annoying trend of filmmakers remaking old films, and butchering them in the process might not stop soon. Sequels and remake have actually become the order of the day. It didn’t come as a surprise when the news of David Dhawan’s remake of his own super-hit Govinda-Karishma Kapoor-starrer, ‘Hero No. 1’ came out. Now this film is already a remake of Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s Rajesh Khanna-starrer, ‘Bawarchi,’ but Govinda made it his own with his trademark comic timing, and the catchy songs by Anand-Milind added to the madness.
When the rumours of the ‘Hero No. 1’ began, everybody was convinced that David would cast his son Varun Dhawan in the title role, but seems like the veteran filmmaker has bigger plans for his remake. Earlier sources said that he wanted to cast Ranbir Kapoor, but the latest news is that Ranbir might be replaced by Ranveer Singh. The reason we heard was that to pull off a Govinda, the maker needed the manic energy that Ranveer displayed in his last film, ‘Bajirao Mastani’. Also, given the fact that Ranbir’s previous attempt at this genre, ‘Besharam’ was a disaster, might have been the reason for his loss.
After all the speculations, who knows the role might go to Varun Dhawan, who showed a lot of promise in the comedy genre. But still, we are sure that Ranveer might not let this opportunity go, if it is offered to him. Do you think it will be fun to see Ranveer play to the gallery in the remake of ‘Hero No. 1’?
