akkineni nagarjuna, konda surekha,

The defamation case brought by Tollywood star Akkineni Nagarjuna against Telangana Minister Konda Surekha has been rescheduled. Nagarjuna is expected to appear in court to give his testimony. Initially set for Monday, the proceedings will now take place on Tuesday.

Nagarjuna filed the legal action last Thursday after Surekha made offensive remarks about his family. This sparked widespread outrage within the Telugu film industry and among the public. In her attempt to attack political opponent KTR, Konda Surekha erroneously connected him to the divorce of Naga Chaitanya and Samantha, thereby damaging the Akkineni family’s reputation. Her comments not only troubled the family but also disturbed fans and the wider community.

Nagarjuna’s defamation against Konda Surekha court proceedings scheduled

In an interview with Times Now, Nagarjuna articulated the broader impact of the situation, stating, “The slander has transcended just me and my family.” He underscored the importance of taking a stand. He said, “We in the entertainment industry will not be soft targets anymore. It’s as simple as that.” Akkineni emphasized that public figures, including celebrities, should not be exploited as political tools without consequences.

Despite the apology from Konda Surekha to Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Akkineni Nagarjuna deemed it inadequate, as it did not address the harm inflicted on him and his family. He firmly stated, “No, not at all. This is no longer personal.”

Nagarjuna’s defamation suit aims to send a strong message to politicians, warning them against using celebrities’ names for political gain. He reiterated, “You cannot use our names for political purposes,” asserting that the entertainment industry will no longer be soft targets. The filmmaker hopes that legal action will serve as a cautionary tale to others in the political arena. He expressed, “I am hoping that our legal action against the lady will warn other politicians about using our names in a slanderous manner.”

Telugu industry extends support to Nagarjuna

Though Konda Surekha later attempted to retract her statements, the damage was already significant. Her derogatory remarks garnered condemnation from major figures in the Telugu film industry, including Chiranjeevi, NTR, Prabhas, and Allu Arjun. The overwhelming support from the Telugu industry has bolstered Akkineni Nagarjuna’s belief, that this case represents a larger fight against negative practices within the system.
