Ali Fazal says he is inspired by noted actor Nana Patekar’s determination to fight for the cause of farmers.
Nana has been carrying out various initiatives and has also donated money to help stop farmers’ suicides across Maharashtra.
Ali, who shares screen space with Nana in ‘Tadka’, says he talks to the ‘Welcome’ star about these issues and is in awe of the way he has pulled the initiative beautifully.
“I am very much inspired by him. We sit together for hours on the sets and have already been battling ideas. I talk to him about his initiative all the time,” Ali told PTI.
“He has done a great job and it’s unreal how he has pulled the whole initiative so beautifully,” the young actor said.
The ‘Fukrey’ star participated in ‘Say No To Drugs’ run organised by Femina in association with Narcotics Control Bureau and Mumbai Police on the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking yesterday.
Ali said it is the responsibility of celebrities to shed light on important social issues, either through their off-screen work or films.
The 29-year-old actor, however, feels people should not confuse between what an artist does in films and off-screen.
“Yes at some level, actors should also come forward and take the responsibility. Being a part of the society as well as (being) celebrities, this becomes their responsibility to contribute towards it in any manner.”
“Having said that you should also not blame an actor if you see them on screen and depicting something,” Ali said.
The ‘Bobby Jasoos’ actor says Bollywood has often been called out for spreading “menace” in the society but if looked from another perspective, it can also bring about a change through movies.
“Unfortunately, Bollywood movies are also blamed to bring menace to the society. But it’s the way you see it. We can bring change, we can bring education as well and we already have seen big changes in the society in the past few years,” Ali added.
