Another biopic on India’s 1983 World Cup victory on the cards

It’s the season of biopics. After Azhar, Sachin and Dhoni biopics, we can soon expect a biopic on India’s 1983 World Cup victory. Phantom Films has bagged the rights to make a film on this subject. Madhu Mantena, Anurag Kashyap and Co. will be recreating the magic of India’s biggest sporting wins on the big screen again.

Last Sunday, a group of cricketers met at a suburban five-star hotel and raised a toast to our country’s biggest sporting victories. Kapil Dev, the former skipper opened a bottle of bubbly and the team members cheered on as they reminisced the good old days.

Kapil Dev signed papers and handed the rights of the biggest triumphs to Madhu Mantena of Phantom Films.

The film will go on the floors towards the year end or early next year and there are speculations that Arjun Kapoor will be a part of this biopic.
