Music maestro Bappi Lahiri breathed his last on Tuesday (February 15) night at a private hospital in Mumbai. He was 69. The music composer was known for his disco music to Indian cinema. He gave some of the hit compositions in the 1980s and 90s. He was fondly called Bappi da. He not only composed Bengali and Hindi songs but also for Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Gujarati films. Actor Chiranjeevi mourned the demise of the legendary music composer with a heartfelt note and a throwback picture.

The Acharya actor wrote, “Deeply anguished at the demise of legendary Music director & Singer Bappi Lahiri. I had a great association with Bappi da. He gave numerous chartbusters for me which contributed immensely to my films popularity. He will always be remembered for his unique style & his great enthusiasm for life which reflected in his music. My heartfelt condolences to all his near and dead. (sic)”

Bappi Lahiri was hospitalized. He passed away after a month of hospitalisation for multiple health issues, as per reports. He was discharged on Monday, but his health deteriorated on Tuesday. He was again hospitalized but passed away due to obstructive sleep apnea.

Several celebs like Kajol, Alka Yagnik and others reached Bappi Lahiri’s residence to pay him last respects.

He is survived by son Bappa and daughter Rema. His last rites will be on Thursday.
