EXCLUSIVE: Vijayanand actor Nihal Rajput credits Kantara, Tumbbad as he talks about local content connect with audience

Actor Nihal Rajput is a well-known name in the Kannada film industry. He is best known for his villainous role in Chowka, and also received rave reviews for his performance. The actor was next seen in the horror film Trunk. At present Nihal is gearing up for his next biopic Vijayanand. The movie is based on the life of Vijay Sankeshwar who started his business with one truck and grew it to a fleet of over 5,000 vehicles, making his VRL Logistics, one of the largest in the country.

The actor and team ahead of the film’s release sat down for a chat with us and opened up on the biopic, and the effect of KGF2 and Kantara on Kannada cinema and Tumbbad. Also on how local culture in the film connects to the audience.

Speaking to Bollywood Bubble host Akash Bhatnagar Nihal said, “Cinema has no language. We watch so many movies in Spanish, Korean and more. But though we do not know the language the subtitles help us understand the story. But if the content is good and it is promoted well then obviously people will like it. So coming back to the roots so if the content is good then people will support it.”

He further added, “So there is a film called Tumbbad, one of the best films that I have seen, the way they have done it. I do not know much about in-depth about Maharashtra but seeing that film I got so connected yeah you know because it got us to the roots. The same can be said about Kantara, it is all about the coastal part of Karnataka, even if it is new to us. We all come from the northern part of Karnataka but the local content connects with the audience. ”

Vijayanand features Nihal Rajput, Siri Prahlad, Anant Nag, V Ravichandran, Shine Shetty, Archana Kottige and others in pivotal roles. It will release in cinemas on December 9.
