Hema Committee Report aftermath: Case filed against B Unnikrishnan & Anto Joseph over public insult allegations of Sandra Thomas

A case has been registered against director B Unnikrishnan following a complaint by producer and actress Sandra Thomas. As per Thomas’s statement, Unnikrishnan allegedly insulted her in public, which led to legal action.

The actress stated that she was essentially excluded from the industry as a result of the director’s punitive actions. Thomas’s speech before the Hema Committee, which addresses the working conditions of women in the Malayalam film industry, is another instance mentioned in the complaint.

In addition to B Unnikrishnan, even producer Anto Joseph has also been named as a second accused in the case. The Kerala Police have attested to the case’s registration and are presently looking into it. The problem highlights long-standing issues with gender dynamics and how women are treated in the Malayalam film business, which have been questioned for a while.

Malayalam actor and Marco fame Unni Mukundan has announced his resignation as the treasurer of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA). He took to social media and shared an emotional note of the difficulty of balancing his professional commitments and his responsibilities at AMMA.

He wrote, “I have truly enjoyed my time in this position, and it has been both an exciting and rewarding experience. However, in recent months, the increasing demands of my work, particularly with Marco and other production commitments, have significantly impacted my mental health.”

Mukundan also underlined the significance of putting his health and family first, pointing out that mounting work demands had rendered him incapable of carrying out the duty in an efficient manner. In order to facilitate a seamless transition, he promised the public that he would stay in his role until a replacement was chosen.

The association that represents Malayalam cinema actors, AMMA, is going through a difficult moment with Unni Mukundan’s resignation.
