I&B Minister's take on the 'North Korea' comment by Anurag Kashyap is not surprising us

The ‘Udta Punjab’ controversy is just getting worse by the day. After the suggested 89 cuts by the Central Board of Film Certification, co-producer of the film Anurag Kashyap of Phantom Films expressed his displeasure and wrote a tweet saying, “It’s like living in North Korea,” and also called CB Chief Pahlaj Nihalani an extremely egoistic man.

However, this comment made by Kashyap didn’t go down well with the Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore. So recently at a press conference, the I&B Minister of State, when asked to comment on the issue, said, “India is a democracy. Do you think or feel you are living in North Korea? Let’s take a vote on who thinks India is as bad as North Korea.”

This further infuriated Kashyap who tweeted saying that ‘Udta Punjab’ is the most honest film ever.

Here’s the tweet by Anurag Kashyap:

‘Udta Punjab’, starring Shahid Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt and Diljit Dosanjh in a pivotal role, deals with the substance abuse in Northen part of the state and its effects on the youth. Directed by Abhishek Chaubey, the film is slated to release on June 17.
