Jagame Thandhiram: Dhanush wishes to have a stand-alone film based on his character Suruli

Dhanush starrer Jagame Thandhiram is all set to stream on Netflix from June 18. Directed by Karthik Subbaraj, Dhanush will be seen as a gangster Suruli from Madurai creating havoc in London. The trailer has got a positive response from Dhanush’s fans as he is mindblowing as a gangster.

Dhanush wants to have a film made on his character Suruli from Jagame Thandhiram. He recently told during a session on Twitter Spaces that he loves Suruli’s character. He said, “I like Suruli very much. I keep pestering Karthik Subburaj to write a sequel to Suruli. I like this character so much. I believe that my fans will love this film. I am also confident that besides my fans, others will also appreciate this film.”

Dhanush was also all praise for Santhosh Narayanan and Bujji. He said, “Santhosh has added so much to this film. Bujji itself gave a lot of hype to the film. But, he has done an extraordinary job with the background score. You will see it in the film.”

Dhanush was not in favour of releasing Jagame Thandhiram on OTT. Earlier, he had expressed his disappointment over not releasing the film in theatres. But, Dhanush is optimistic that the movie will reach a wider audience and they will like it.

Karthik Subbaraj has also written Jagame Thandhiram apart from directing it. S. Sashikanth and Ramachandra of YNOT Studios and Reliance Entertainment, have backed the film. Apart from Dhanush, the movie also stars Aishwarya Lekshmi, James Cosmo, Joju George. It was shot in London, Madurai, and Chennai.

Talking about Dhanush, he was last seen in Karnan for which he received an overwhelming response. He will be next seen in Atrangi Re and The Gray Man.
