In a sad piece of news, Veteran Tamil actor Srikanth, who was Jayalalithaa’s first hero, passed away at the age of 82 in Chennai on Tuesday. Apparently, he died due to old age. The news of his demise was announced by Nadigar Sangam. Superstar Rajinikanth, who earlier shared screen space with Srikanth took to Twitter to pay his tributes to the late actor. He tweeted in Tamil, “I am deeply saddened by the death of my dear friend Srikanth. May his soul rest in peace.” Srikanth and Rajinikanth were seen in the films Bhairavi and Sadhurangam. Chief Minister MK Stalin also condoled his death.
Speaking of the late actor, Srikanth started his acting journey with the 1965 film Vennira Aadai with J Jayalalithaa. Vennira Adai which means The white cloth was directed by late veteran CV Sridhar.
In a career spanning over 4 decades, he starred in more than 200 movies over the years. He is best known for 1974 super hit Thanga Pathakkam. His impressive filmography also included many of K Balachandar movies such as Bama Vijayam, Poova Thalaiya and Ethir Neechal among others. His last movie as an actor was the 2009 film Kudiyarasu.

Aside from Jayalalithaa and Rajinikanth, Srikanth featured with several Tamil stars such as Sivaji Ganesan, R Muthuraman, Sivakumar and Kamal Haasan, among others. Other than films, he was also part of a several stage plays. He even did a television series titled Mangai, opposite KR Vijaya. The actor was also known for her versatality and acted as both hero and villain. For the unversed, he had played the anti-hero character in Bhairavi which was Rajinikanth’s first movie as a hero.
A few days ago, we had reported that Tamil poet and lyricist Pulamaipithan, who is also known as Ramasamy, passed away at age of 85 due to age-related ailments. Unfortunately, several actors and celebs from Tamil region left for heavenly abode this year. Several died due to covid-19 too.
