Kannada actress Ragini Dwivedi, who was arrested in a drug case, has been granted bail by the Supreme Court today. The 30-year-old actress was arrested in September last year was taken into custody by the Crime Branch in Bengaluru. She was accused of having links with an international drug cartel that was apparently involved in supplying psychedelic drugs at rave parties and other events.
Ragini was charged under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. However, the actress had claimed that she was being framed in a false case just to attract public attention by the prosecution. She had also reportedly claimed that she was kept in judicial custody for more than 100 days without any proof or recovery of drugs from her.
Meanwhile, a bench of justices R F Nariman, Navin Sinha and K M Joseph have set aside the court order from November 3 by the Karnataka High Court that refused to grant bail to Ragini. She was in judicial custody at the Parappana Agrahara Central Prison. Over the last few months, the Karnataka Police has arrested 15 people, including other Kannada actors and they all have been summoned for questioning.

The alleged drug cartel in Bollywood is also under investigation after Sushant Singh Rajput’s death. Sushant’s girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB). Sushant’s death case is also being investigated by the CBI and NCB. But their final findings are yet to be revealed. Meanwhile, the nation is paying tribute to the late actor on his birth anniversary today.
