Naveen Kumar Gowda popularly known as ‘Rocking Star’ Yash has a massive fan-base not only in Karnataka, but also in other regions of the country. Thanks to KGF for making him a pan-India star. The Kannada superstar hails from a small town in Hassan district of Karnataka, and was born into a typical middle-class family. In an interview with Bollywood Bubble, Yash revealed that his parents never wanted him to get into the industry as they were scared as they come from a middle-class background. But as now he is successful, they are happy.
Yash said, “Coming from a middle-class background and from a small town, they were not sure if this was a good thing for their son. So they always told cinema is very complicated’, ‘you can’t get in’, ‘it is very difficult’ all of that was there. But they had also supported me when I was participating in dance competitions or theatre activities and all of that so somewhere they’re happy but at the same time they were scared. But then it all boils down to how badly you want to achieve or how badly you want to be that. Then they couldn’t stop me, they said, “Accha chalo, bigad gaya toh bigad gaya.’ They said ‘Ok go, but if you come back, we will never let you go again.’ They thought I’ll come back but I didn’t.”
On how his parents react to his stardom, the actor added, “They are very happy. Of course, it doesn’t mean that anything has changed. They still think that I am not smart enough to take decisions or they think I have to be more disciplined. Parents are parents, doesn’t matter if your son is an actor or an engineer they will always criticize and that is also I think important because they tell you where you come from, they keep reminding you. They put you in your place.”
