Konda Surekha cites ‘internal sources’ for controversial Samantha-Naga Chaitanya divorce claims; says, “No one knows why they parted”

Congress minister Konda Surekha created quite a stir with her recent comments. The politician found herself in the eye of the storm following her claims about why actors Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Naga Chaitanya divorced. Hours after retracting her statement, the Telangana Environment Minister once more made a statement saying that no one knows why the former couple parted ways.

During this interaction, Surekha also claimed that her earlier remarks were based on ‘internal sources’ from the film industry. Read on to know her latest statement.

Konda Surekha: Till today no one knows why they parted ways

On Thursday – a while after retracting her statement via a tweet, the Telangana said, “Whatever I have said is wrong but till today no one knows why Naga Chaitanya and Samatha parted ways, did they ever clarify on that?” She added, “Whatever I have said it was based on our internal sources from the film industry.”

Konda Surekha further added, “I may have reacted angrily but whatever I have said is the truth. I have not hidden anything. I won’t spare KTR.”

The controversy

Surekha recently claimed former Telangana chief minister Chandrasekara Rao’s son KTR was the primary reason behind the divorce of Samantha and Chaitanya. She said, “It is KT Rama Rao because of whom Samantha’s divorce happened. He was a minister at that time and used to tap the phones of the actresses and then find their weaknesses to blackmail them. He used to make them drug addicts and then do this. Everyone knows this, Samantha, Naga Chaitanya, his family, everybody is aware that such a thing happened.”

She also noted, “KTR asked to send Samantha in return for not demolishing the N-convention centre. Nagarjuna forced Samantha to go to KTR, but she said no. That led to divorce.” The ‘Brahmastra’ actor’s convention centre was partially demolished on August 24, 2024, by HYDRAA for encroaching on lake buffer zones.

Amidst major flax, the Congress leader withdrew her statement and apologised to the actors for her remarks. She stated that her comments were aimed at BRS working president KT Rama Rao, who had humiliated her. Several prominent members of the film industry commented on the controversy including stars like Jr NTR, Nani, Chiranjeevi and more.
