Mahesh Babu wanted a non-working wife, he was very clear: Namrata Shirodkar on why she quit acting post wedding

Mahesh Babu and Namrata Shirodkar are one of the most loved and adored celebrity couples in the South. The couple tied the knot in 2005 and are blessed with two wonderful kids. In an interview recently, Namrata Shirodkar, who worked in the movies before her wedding to Mahesh Babu, opened up about why she quit her acting career.

The LOC Kargil actress revealed that her husband Mahesh Babu had made it ‘very clear’ to her before marriage, that he wanted a ‘non-working wife’. She further mentioned that even if she was ‘working in some office’, he would have asked her to quit working. Shirodkar said it was her conscious decision to quit acting after marriage.

“Mahesh was very clear that he wanted a non-working wife. Even if I was working in some office, he would have told me to leave work. There are certain things we had for each other,” Namrata told a Telugu YouTube channel-Prema.

Explaining further, the Bride and Prejudice actress added, “We were very clear that we will live in an apartment first after marriage because I was from Mumbai, and I didn’t know how I would fit into these huge bungalows. I used to get scared so he moved into an apartment with me. That was my condition that if I’m going to come to Hyderabad, I will live in an apartment.”

She continued, “Similarly, he was also clear that he didn’t want me to work. Which is why we also took some time so that I finish shooting for all my films. When we got married, I had no work, so I wrapped up all my pending movies. We were clear. There was a lot of clarity among us.”

During the interview, Namrata also mentioned how she was never interesting in modelling. She further revealed it was her mother’s wish and she obliged.

Meanwhile, Shirodkar was last seen in the 2004 Hindi movie Insaaf: The Justice. In that same year, the actress also made an appearance in Gurinder Chadha’s Bride and Prejudice.
