Malayalam actor Sreenath Bhasi was arrested and subsequently released following a hit-and-run accident in Kochi, leading to a suspension of his driving license for one month. Known for his role in Manjummel Boys, Bhasi has been featured in numerous films. He was a part of the Christian alternative metal band, Crimson Wood and is currently the vocalist of an experimental djent band from Kerala.

Sreenath Bhasi arrested after hit-and-run accident

Sreenath Bhasi was involved in an accident on October 8 when his car collided with a biker near the Kochi corporation office, as reported by Mathrubhumi. Allegedly, the actor fled the scene without stopping, prompting legal action to be taken against him.

The victim, identified as Muhammad Faheem from Chullikkal, Mattancherry, suffered injuries from the collision. Faheem claimed that Bhasi’s vehicle was speeding at the time of the incident. Witnesses at the scene managed to identify the car and subsequently filed a police complaint.

Upon gathering eyewitness accounts, the Kochi police arrested Sreenath Bhasi. Although he was released after questioning, the Regional Transport Office suspended his driving license for a month due to the circumstances surrounding the hit-and-run.

Sreenath Bhasi’s previous legal issues

This incident is not Bhasi’s first brush with the law. He was previously questioned by Kerala police concerning a narcotics case involving notorious gangster Om Prakash, who was arrested for allegedly dealing cocaine at DJ parties in Kochi. While Bhasi’s name came up during the investigation, there was insufficient evidence to take any legal action against him.

Success of Manjummel Boys

On the professional front, Sreenath Bhasi recently received significant recognition for his performance in Manjummel Boys. The film became a massive hit, telling the story of a group of friends from Manjummel area, Kochi. And they go on a vacation to Kodaikanal. Its box office performance has been historic, surpassing Rs 200 crore. And officially it became the highest-grossing Malayalam film of all time. It surpassed the previous record set in 2018, a film based on the Kerala floods.
