Kalki 2898 AD released in theatres worldwide last week (June 27) and currently, the maker and the actors are basking in its glory. While fans are pouring in love for the film, a section of Prabhas’ fans have pointed out that the ‘Saaho’ actor has limited screen time in the first half of the 3-hour-long film. During a recent chat, the director addressed the issue and recalled Prabhas’ equation with Amitabh Bachchan.
Nag Ashwin on Prabhas’ less screen time in Kalki 2898 AD
During a recent chat with Pinkvilla, director Nag Ashwin addressed fans’ complaints about Prabhas not having enough screen time in Kalki 2898 AD. For the unversed, a section of Prabhas’ fans noted that the actor had hardly 20 minutes of screen time in the first half of the dystopian film inspired by Hindu scriptures. In fact, they stated that the film mainly focuses on Amitabh Bachchan and Deepika Padukone’s characters.
Addressing these concerns, and whether Prabhas was aware of his screen time being less, the filmmaker said, “I don’t think we had those sorts of discussions. For a star of his stature, Prabhas has very little issues about things like this. He is fully for the story. Once he listened and okay-ed the story way back in the day, he has been fully onboard and very supportive.”
Ashwin continued, “Like, I think in retrospect, I feel that it was a big deal for a mainstream actor to get hit by another actor; Living in a world where all these heroes are untouchable. So it was a big deal but he was totally onboard. He wanted to get hit by Amitabh Bachchan. It was awesome. He was like, ‘Sir, hold me tighter.'”
