Nagarjuna shares why Naga Chaitanya and Sobhita Dhulipala had a ‘hurried engagement’ ceremony

Actors Sobhita Dhulipala and Naga Chaitanya who were rumoured to be dating for two years have finally decided to take their relationship to the next level as they got engaged. The two had a hush-hush engagement ceremony and the pictures from the event were shared by Chay’s father Nagarjuna on his X handle. Now, speaking about the ceremony of Naga Chaitanya and Sobhita Dhulipala, Nagarjuna explained why they chose August 8 as the engagement date.

In an interview with Times Now, Nagarjuna said that he was happy for his son to have found a partner. He said, “Sobhita and Chay make a wonderful couple. They love each other dearly.” Sharing details about the engagement date, Nagarjuna said, “We chose this day because it was very auspicious. Both families consulted the Nakshatras, and when we were told August 8 was a very auspicious day, we decided to go ahead with it.” There were rumours that Naga Chaitanya’s ex-wife Samantha had proposed to Naga Chaitanya on the same date.

Nagarjuna speaks about the couple’s wedding date

When asked about the couple’s wedding date, the Brahmastra actor said, “Not immediately. We chose to have a hurried engagement because it was an auspicious day, and since Chay and Sobhita are very sure that they want to marry, we said, let’s do it.” The actor further revealed that it was a happy occasion for both families. “Sobhita’s family really likes Chay. Can’t blame them. My son is a gem of a boy. He deserves happiness”, said the actor.

Nagarjuna said that he has known Sobhita even before Chay met her. He said, “I know her from a long time. Chay got to know Sobhita just two years ago. But, I have known her for six years. I saw her in Adivi Sesh’s film Goodachari and liked her work. I told her that. From then on, we have had many discussions on cinema, life, and philosophy. Sobhita is a very well-informed girl.”
