Nayanthara’s Annaporani pulled down from Netflix for allegedly hurting Hindu religious sentiments, FIR lodged

Nayanthara recently starred in Annapoorani, a Tamil movie where the daughter of a temple cook goes against the wishes of her family to cook non-vegetarian food to prove that she is a talented chef in her own right. However, certain scenes from the movie have been fired up on social media and have created a storm. Not only this, but an FIR has been filed against the actress the ones associated with the movie. They have alleged that the movie has hurt religious sentiments of the Hindus.

FIR filed against Nayanthara starrer Annapoorani

Separate complaints have been filed by two right-wing activists for hurting the religious sentiments of the Hindus. The complaints have alleged that the movie makes controversial remarks about Lord Ram and it also promotes love jihad. Nayanthara starrer Annappoorani has also been pulled down from Netflix. According to the second complaint, the movie was intentionally released to hurt the religious sentiments as it demeans Lord Ram.

Several scenes from the movie have created a stir. One scene shows Farhaan, a friend of the character played by Nayanthara telling her that Lord Shri Ram and Sita Ma had also consumed meat. Another scene shows Nayanthara offering Namaz wearing a hijab before preparing biryani.

As quoted by Hindustan Times, an official said, “We have received a written complaint application against the actor and others,” the official said. “The complainant has so far not visited the police station. We are waiting for him to appear before the police so that we can take further course of action,” it added.
