Here is a recent update on the ‘Udta Punjab‘ and Censor Board’s spat. While it was said that the Censor Board has ordered the makers to delete the word ‘Punjab’ from ‘Udta Punjab’, Censor Board’s CEO Pahlaj Nihalani told SpotboyE that the Censor Board has no objection if the title of the film Udta Punjab is NOT changed.
“We have NEVER objected to ‘Punjab’ being cut, but yes we WANT ‘Punjab’ cut from a few places within the film,” he said in an interview. He further says, “The film carries a disclaimer that it’s a fictional story, then why have they focussed so strongly on Punjab?”
When asked about accusing Anurag Kashyap of having taken a bribe from the Arvind Kejriwal led Aam Aadmi Party to show Punjab in bad light, Pahlaj gave an explanation saying, “Anurag calls me a dictator. Has he ever met me in his life? His views on me are simply based on hearsay. Ditto for me when I said that he has taken money from the AAP.”
