Puneeth Rajkumar’s brother Shiva Rajkumar mourns Power Star’s demise: I am feeling like I have lost my own child

Kannada actor Puneeth Rajkumar passed away on October 29 as he suffered a heart attack. He was 46. Fondly called as Appu, he was cremated at the Kanteerava Studio in Bengaluru on Sunday with full state honours in presence of his family, colleagues, political dignitaries, fans and well-wishers. As he was accorded full state honours, the police band played the national anthem and police personnel fired three rounds in the air, and there was two minutes of silence as a mark of respect. Then the national flag was wrapped on Puneeth’s body, and was handed over to his wife.

Puneeth’s elder brother actor Shiva Rajkumar broke down during the funeral. As per a report in Pinkvilla, Shiva Rajkumar interacted with the media after his brother’s last rites. He had tears in his eyes and thanked the police and the government for their support. He also appealed to fans to take care of themselves as they also have families to look after. For the unversed, reportedly, after hearing about Puneeth’s death, a fan of Puneeth committed suicide while two died of cardiac arrest.

Shiva said, “I am elder to Puneeth by 13 years and I have seen him since he was a baby. I am feeling like I have lost my own child. It is shocking to the entire family”.

He added, “It is very hard for anyone to digest that Appu is no more with us, but we have seen the reality and move on. I get it that fans are devastated, but they should be patient and not forget that their families need them”.

Due to Puneeth’s death, Shiva Rajkumar’s Bhajrangi 2’s shows have been cancelled across Karnataka. The movie released on October 29.
