Ponniyin Selvan: Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan to grace trailer launch of Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus

Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan is one of the most anticipated movies of the year. The first look of the characters and the teaser have already doubled the excitement. Fans are now eagerly waiting to witness the magnum opus on the big screen. PS-1 will release on September 30. It is said that the promotions of the film will begin with a grand pre-release event, which will take place on September 6 in Chennai. Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan will be the chief guests of the mega event. Yes, you read that right. The makers on Monday confirmed it.

Today, on September 5, the makers of Ponniyin Selvan shared a video featuring pics of Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan as they made the announcement. PS-1 trailer will also be unveiled at the same event.

Making the grand announcement, the makers tweeted, “It can’t get any bigger or better than this! Honoured to have Ulaganayagan @ikamalhaasan & Superstar @rajinikanth with us at our music and trailer launch function!”

The makers have recently unveiled the first look of Sobhita Dhulipala and Aishwarya Lekshmi from the upcoming historical drama. It stars Chiyaan Vikram, Karthi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha Krishna, Jayaram Ravi and Prakash Raj in pivotal roles.

Ponniyin Selvan is jointly produced by Lyca Productions and Madras Talkies. Music is composed by AR Rahman.

It is based on 1955 historical fiction novel of the same name, written by Kalki Krishnamurthy. Set in the 10th century, Ponniyin Selvan showcases the power struggles within the Chola empire, with enemies of the state acting as catalysts.
