Rajinikanth says his heart is ‘thumping with joy’ as he announces reunion with Amitabh Bachchan after 33 years

Actor Rajinikanth just left everyone starstruck when he dropped an ultimate picture with Amitabh Bachchan. On Wednesday, Rajinikanth took to his X account (formerly Twitter) and dropped a picture with Big B while expressing his happiness on their reunion. In the tweet, Thalaiva said that Mr Bachchan is his mentor and is extremely elated that he is reuniting with him after 33 years.

Taking to X, the Kabali actor wrote, “After 33 years, I am working again with my mentor, the phenomenon, Shri Amitabh Bachchan in the upcoming Lyca’s Thalaivar 170 directed by T.J Gnanavel. My heart is thumping with joy! (sic).” Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan have worked together in several movies before. They have starred together in movies like Andhaa Kaanoon, Hum and Geraftaar.

Netizens are going berserk with the announcement. They can’t wait to see the two legends together onscreen once again. While many are saying ‘great combo’ there are some who are saying that the movie will cross 2000 crores at the box office. A user also commented, “Eagerly waiting for both legends Screen Presence.” There was another one who said, “May the movie achieve a great success.“

Speaking about Thalaivar 170, the Jailer actor shot the movie in Trivandrum in Kerala. The upcoming movie is touted to be a big-budget commercial entertainer. Thalaivar 170 boasts of an ensemble cast including Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, Ritika Singh, Dushara Vijayan, Rakshan and GM Soundar in pivotal roles. Produced by Lyca Productions, the film is written and directed by TJ Gnanavel.
