Popular film producer and celebrity chef Naushad passed away today at the age of 55. He was reportedly undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Thiruvalla. He apparently was suffering from an abdomen-related ailment.
He was best known for producing movies such as Kazhcha, Chattambinadu, Best Actor, Lion, Payyans and Spanish Masala among others. He hosted several cookery shows on various TV channels. He also ran a hotel and catering business in Thiruvalla. He also judged various food competitions. Unfortunately, two weeks ago, his wife Sheeba passed away. The couple has a 13-year-old daughter Nashwa.
A few days ago, his friend and producer Noushad Alathur had revealed on social media that Naushad was in critical condition. He tweeted, “My dear friend Noushad is in critical condition. He is currently on a ventilator at Thiruvalla Hospital. Let’s all pray for his speedy recovery. His wife left us all just two weeks. They have only one daughter.” Many do not know that he underwent treatment in Vellore three years ago for a stomach ailment. He also was treated in Kochi for spinal cord injury. He underwent heart surgery five months ago.
For the unversed, Naushad was the owner of Naushad the big chef, a leading restaurant group in Kerala. He ventured into filmdom by producing Blessy’s first film, Kazhcha that starred Mammootty. Filmmaker Blessy was Naushad’s classmate. In the year 2005, he won the state government’s best producer award for the movie. He was also known for preparing food for several celebs and VIPs including the vice president of India.
As per New Indian Express, his last rites will take place at SCS school ground at 1 p.m. Funeral will be held at Muttur Juma Masjid.
