Salman Khan responds to notice from National Commission for Women

Salman Khan has recently responded to the National Commission for Women in connection to an apology that they had demanded from him. Salman had made a remark during a media interaction in connection to his upcoming film ‘Sultan‘. Khan’s remark that he had felt “like a raped woman” had ignited public outrage and prompted the National Commission for Women to take action against him.

The head of the women’s rights body, Lalitha Kumaramangalam confirmed that they have received a response from Khan’s lawyer. She also added that though Salman had responded through his lawyer, he hasn’t apologized for his words. She affirmed that they will decide on the next step after going through the legal response from the actor.

Salman had said the controversial words while speaking with reporters about his new release ‘Sultan’. His supporters had pointed out that a few minutes later, the actor had told journalists that he shouldn’t have made the comment. On family front the actor’s father Salim Khan had tweeted an apology on behalf of his son. His brother Arbaaz Khan too said that Salman’s intention was not wrong.

Salman Khan was in Madrid attending the IIFA Awards and is now back in Mumbai. He was ordered to appear before the Women’s Commission in Mumbai today.
