The 63-year-old famous Malayalam filmmaker Siddique took his last breath on 8 July. Giving a big blow to the entertainment industry, Siddique suffered a heart attack on 7 August and was hospitalized. In a hospital in Kochi, the filmmakers’ condition remained critical.
Filmmaker Siddique Ismail suffered of cardiac arrest
Reportedly, his condition took a toll after he suffered a cardiac arrest and was put on ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation). Moreover, there were reports stating that Siddique was also suffering from pneumonia and was undergoing treatment for liver issues. The filmmaker was also put on a ventilator, after which, Siddique passed away.
Speaking of his professional life, the talented filmmaker earned his name in the Malayalam film industry and also in the Bollywood film industry. He has worked as a director for Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor’s starrer film Bodyguard. In 2020, the filmmaker also worked for the film Big Brother. The film featured Arbaaz Khan, Anup Menon, Vishnu Unnikrishnan, and Mirna Menon, among others.
Siddique’s notable work
Siddique started as an assistant director in Malayali films. In 1983, he worked with veteran filmmaker Fazil. Along with his friend Lal, the two have given some of the biggest hits in the film industry including Ramaju Rao Speaking, Godfather, and Vietnam Colony. Apart from Malayalam films, Siddique has also directed Tamil and Telugu films. The films curated by the two delivered relatable characters as they took the bar high for contemporary comedy though their team-up spanned only six movies.
The filmmaker is survived by his wife Sajitha and three daughters – Saumya, Sara, and Sukoon. Amid this tragic loss, we offer our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time. May his soul rest in peace.
