Samantha Ruth Prabhu to play bisexual woman in ‘Arrangements of Love’

Samantha Ruth Prabhu is all set to make her international film debut with BAFTA-winning director Philip John of ‘Downtown Abbey’ fame. She will be starring in his upcoming film, ‘Arrangements of Love.’

In the film, she will essay the role of a Tamil bisexual woman, who runs a detective agency. The announcement was made by the ‘Family Man 2’ actress on her social media.

Sharing a picture with the director on Instagram, she penned a long caption, that read as: “A whole new world♥️. I last auditioned in 2009 for Ye Maya chesave. 12 years later,and auditioning again, I felt the very same nervousness. I guess it’s not everyday you get to audition for a BAFTA award winning , critically acclaimed, director of your most favourite series ‘Downton Abbey’ ♥️ Jumping for joy that you picked me sir ? #PhilipJohn .. Thankyou @sunitha.tati @gurufilms1 for the opportunity.. cant wait to start this exciting journey !!”

According to Variety, Arrangements of Love is an adaptation of the bestselling 2004 novel of the same title by Indian author Timeri N. Murari (“The Taliban Cricket Club”)

Talking about Samantha’s role: “She plays a strong-minded and funny force of nature 27-year-old, who runs her own detective agency and becomes part of the search. She is a progressive bisexual Tamil woman, with ultra-traditional parents, who want her to have an arranged marriage. As much as she wants to please her parents she also wants to be able to make her own life choices.”

The film will be produced by Sunitha Tati, who has previously worked with Samantha on her 2019 film, ‘Oh! Baby,’ which was an adaptation of the 2014 Korean film ‘Miss Granny.’The project is expected to go on the floors from August 2022.
