Actor Sanjay Dutt, who was convicted in the 1993 Bombay blasts case for carrying illegal weapons, has left his residence Imperial Heights to surrender before a special TADA court in Mumbai today. The actor was escorted by filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt and wife Maanayata Dutt.
The actor, as reports suggest, will get free traffic zone with police patrol. His 13 kilometer- long journey will be escorted by Central Reserved Force (CRF) and Quick response team officials with a pilot car. This step was taken after he expressed threats to his life.
“I’m going to surrender, pray for me. I need your support,” Sanjay Dutt had told mediapersons.
After he is taken into custody, the actor will be sent to Arthur Road Jail. Post this, he will be sent to Pune’s Yerawada jail where he will serve the remaining three and a half years of his prison term.
