Sanjay Dutt whose conviction in 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case was upheld by the Supreme Court in March this year, was brought to Yerwada jail at the crack of dawn from Arthur Road Prison in an hush hush manner.He will be serving his remaining three and a half years of his five-year sentence here.Life of Sanjay Dutt at Yerawada will  begin with a new tag prisoner no 16656.
According to information,Dutt is to be kept in a separate cell and also stay away from fellow inmates due to security needs.the superintendent of Yerawada Central Prison said, “From today morning, he started his routine like any other convict. Though his routine in the jail will be same as all others, he will spend most of his time away from the other inmates. This is being done because there are many other convicts. Sanjay Dutt’s work in prison has not been decided yet.”
As per court order he will be provided home-made food,a pillow, mattress and medicines from home.There will not be any special treatment to the actor he will have to follow uniform jail routine. Dutt will be given prescribed manual work job in due course after formalities of admission are over.
