Actress Sonam Kapoor was recently in Delhi to meet and greet her fans at the ‘Veere Di Wedding’ screening. During her interaction with the media, the actress defended her co-star and good friend Swara Bhasker who was being trolled for her masturbation scene in the film.
Sonam had said, “I think people just like to troll her because she has an opinion and a point of view and I guess that shows how much they love her because the other side of hate is always love, so Swara you have a lot of lovers!”
Little did the ‘Neerja’ star know that her simple statement will be misconstrued by a Pakistani magazine. They wrote, “After the backlash that #swarabhaskar received regarding her remarks about Pakistan, #sonamkapoor added, “I think people like to troll her because she has an opinion and point of view, and I guess that shows his much they love her because the other side of hate is always to love.”
An irate Sonam soon took to the social media and wrote, wrote, “My defence of her has nothing to do with her comments on Pakistan! Get your fact right and stop trying to spread mischief and hate! ❤✌ #aproudworldcitizen #feminist #liberal”

Swara had called Pakistan a non-secular state after it ‘banned Veere Di Wedding’. During a media interaction, she had said, “They’re (Pakistan) a non-secular state. I’m not surprised at all. Why should we hold up Pakistan, which is a failing state – I don’t understand why we keep taking pleasure and feeling a sense of self-worth from all the silly things that happen in Pakistan.” (Also Read: Sonam Kapoor and her ‘Veere Di Wedding’ co-stars visit theaters to gauge the audience reaction)
The actress was soon slammed by Pakistani actress Urwa Hocane for her comments.
