Actress Sonam Kapoor has voiced her opinion on various matters pertaining to society, and now the ‘Khoobsurat’ actress has taken up a new cause. She will work towards eradicating malnutrition from society. Yes, the ‘Neerja’ star who has been appointed as the Goodwill Ambassador for Fight Hunger Foundation will be pitching in her voice in the fight against malnutrition-related causes in India, thus moving a step forward in making India hunger-free.
Sonam Kapoor said, “Each year, over one million children die from malnutrition-related causes in India. It is inconceivable to me that there are children who do not have access to proper nutrition and clean water. We cannot build a productive and peaceful world on empty stomachs.”
The actress further added, “Seeing these children suffer from malnutrition first-hand has been devastating, but it has also made me realize that we can all be doing more to end child deaths from malnutrition, an easily preventable disease. That’s why I have decided to pledge to support Fight Hunger Foundation, to help raise awareness. I urge people to come forward and support them in their fight against malnutrition.”
The 31-year-old Kapoor gal recently also paid a visit to one of ‘Fight Hunger Foundation’s project sites at Chota Sion Hospital in Mumbai. Here she not only spoke to the hospital staff to learn more and thus gain a deeper understanding of the issue but also met numerous mothers and the malnourished children.
On professional front she is now all geared up for sister Rhea Kapoor’s third production, ‘Veere Di Wedding’ that has Kareena Kapoor Khan, Swara Bhaskar and Shikha Talsani too a part of the chick flick.
