It seems like OTT platforms have cemented their position as a platform for movie releases unlike earlier. While many filmmakers believe the release of movies on the web is best as the reach is wider and fewer restrictions, while several feel that theatres are the best place.

Lift

Lift is a survival thriller and it features Kavin and Amritha Aiyer in key roles. Written and directed by debutant Vineeth, the film was initially slated to release in theatres. Because of the Covid-19 pandemic, the makers decided to release it on Disney+Hotstar. Lift follows the life of Guru and Harini who are trapped in a haunted workplace. The film is produced by Hepzi under the banner EKAA Entertainment.
Bhramam

After Cold Case and Kuruthi, Prithviraj Sukumaran’s next movie too is releasing on an OTT platform. Bhramam which is the remake of the Hindi film Andhadhun is directed by Ravi K Chandran. Aside from Prithviraj, the drama features Unni Mukundan, Mamta Mohandas, Raashi Khanna and Shankar Panicker in vital roles. While Prithviraj will play Ayushmann Khurrana’s role, Mamta and Raashi Khanna will be reprising Tabu and Radhika Apte’s roles, respectively.

Thalaivi

Thalaivi, which was one of the highly-anticipated movies will be available online too after getting released in theatres. Directed by AL Vijay, Thalaivii is the official biopic of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa. Kangana Ranaut and Arvind Swami are playing the lead roles. While the Hindi version of the film was released on Netflix on September 25, the Tamil and Telugu versions of the film will release on Amazon Prime Video.
Udanpirappe

Earlier this year, Suriya had announced that four films from his production house, 2D Entertainment, will not have a theatrical release and directly premiere on Amazon Prime Video. Director Era Saravanan’s Udapirappe is one of the four films. The family drama features M Sasikumar and Jyotika in the lead roles while Samuthirakani, Soori, Kalaiyarasan, Nivedhithaa Sathish and Sija Rose are playing supporting roles.

The movie features none other than Siddharth in a key role. The movie also sees G.V.Prakash Kumar, Lijomol Jose, Kashmira Pardesi, Madhusudhan Rao, and Dheepa Ramanujam among others. The movie is directed by Sasi.
