SS Rajamouli, Ram Charan, Prabhas CONDEMN Konda Surekha for vulgar and baseless comment on Naga Chaitanya-Samantha divorce; call it ‘UNACCEPTABLE’

Celebrated filmmaker SS Rajamouli has issued a strong denunciation of Telangana Minister’s comments on the divorce of Naga Chaitanya and Samantha Ruth Prabhu to political matters. Popular Telugu industry actors like Ram Charan, Prabhas, and Akhil Akkineni, son of Nagarjuna have taken their social media to raise concerns over the Konda Surekha controversy

Surekha’s remarks which implicated former Minister and BRS leader KTR in the divorce proceedings, escalated tensions significantly. She accused KTR of allegedly tapping actors’ phones and blackmailing them, prompting widespread backlash not only from the film community but also from various political circles.

On Wednesday, Konda Surekha told reporters, “It is KT Rama Rao because of whom (actress) Samantha’s divorce happened. He was a minister at that time and used to tap the phones of the actresses and then find their weaknesses to blackmail them. He used to make them drug addicts and then do this. Everyone knows this, Samantha, Naga Chaitanya, his family – everybody is aware that such a thing happened.”

SS Rajamouli condemns a wave of criticism directed at Konda Surekha, with Nagarjuna Akkineni, Naga Chaitanya’s father and a prominent figure in the Telugu film industry, filing a defamation lawsuit against the minister. The suit was lodged under Section 356 of the Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita in the district court of Hyderabad. The director who is known for his blockbuster films Baahubali and RRR, emphasized the need for respecting personal boundaries and maintaining dignity amid public discourse.

Telugu industry condemns remarks by Konda Surekha

Telugu actors Chiranjeevi, Jr NTR, and Allu Arjun among others slammed Telangana Minister. The actors shared their posts along with the common hashtag #FilmIndustryWillNotTolerate on social media.

Rajamouli also said that baseless allegations are “intolerable” especially when made by public officials. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Rajamouli posted, “Respect boundaries, maintain dignity. The RRR actor, Ram Charan issued a story saying the comments made by Konda Suresh are irresponsible and baseless, calling them ‘vulgar’.

Akhil Akkineni, brother of Naga Chaitanya took his Instagram concerning the issue and posted a story.

Bahubali actor, Prabhas has also taken his Instagram to address the ongoing issues remarks of Konda Surekha.

The controversy has resonated throughout the Telugu industry, with several celebrities joining the critical remarks against Konda Surekha. Notable figures such as Allu Arjun, Nani, Mahesh Babu, Vijay Deverakonda, Khushbu Sundar, and director Srikanth Odela have openly condemned the minister’s comments. Additionally, actor Rakul Preet Singh expressed her discontent, releasing a statement about Surekha dragging her name into political strategies.

In response to the mounting outrage, Konda Surekha attempted to clarify her statement, asserting that she intended to challenge KTR for “belittling women” rather than to offend Samantha Ruth Prabhu or her supporters. She offered to “unconditionally” retract her comments if they had caused any hurt or distress.

As the situation develops, the incident highlights the often contentious intersection of personal matters and political narratives in the public sphere, especially in the realm of Indian cinema.
