SS Rajamouli’s RRR has indeed become a global phenomenon that just keeps on getting bigger and bigger. The film emerged as one the highest grossing films in India on the time of its release in March, slowly getting international exposure as well. But when it released on OTT, its global popularity grew exponentially with some of the biggest names in Western cinema lauding and appreciating it. Now, the film has added another laurel to its long list of awards as RRR has been adjudged as the Best International Film at the ongoing 50th Saturn Awards.

The film starring Ram Charan, Jr NTR, Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn has become an international favourite and it recently had its premiere in Japan as well, which was attended by Rajamouli and his two leading men. Now, at the Saturn Awards the film won the prestigious honour and even though the team couldn’t be there to receive it in person, Rajamouli’s thank you speech was played on an AV for the same which was uploaded on the Saturn Awards’ Twitter page.

In his speech, Rajamouli said, “I am so glad that our film RRR has won the Saturn Award in the Best International Film category. I thank the jury on behalf of our entire team. We’re super elated. This is also my second Saturn Award. The first one I had got for Baahubali: The Conclusion. I wish I was there in person, but due to my prior commitments related to RRR promotions in Japan, unfortunately I am not able to attend. I would like to congratulate all the other winners. Hope you are having a great time. Have fun, namaste.”

In the Best International Film category, the film was nominated with movies like Downton Abbey: A New Era, Eiffel, I’m Your Man, Riders of Justice, and Silent Night. It is also nominated in the Best Action/Adventure movie alongside Death on the Nile, F9: The Fast Saga, No Time to Die, Top Gun: Maverick, and West Side Story. Rajamouli was also nominated in the Best Director category but lost out to Matt Reeves for The Batman. RRR is also all set for its Oscar promotions as the film has been submitted for consideration in the general categories after not being sent as the official Indian entry.
