A 35-year-old fight master named Vivek passed away on the sets of the Kannada movie called Love You Racchu yesterday (August 9). He was apparently electrocuted while working. The shooting was happening in Jogenahalli near Bidadi, Karnataka, where the entire team was shooting a fight sequence. As per the latest reports, the police officials have taken stunt master, Vinod, into custody for further investigation. Apparently, the mishap happened due to the negligence of the film crew.
His sudden death left every cast and crew member shocked. Reportedly, the stuntman stepped on an electric wire and died on the shooting spot. Aside from him, even two more members sustained injuries. They were taken to the hospital. Everyone tried their best to revive him, but he died on the spot.
Bidadi police alleged that the crew of the movie was not having permission for the Love You Racchu movie’s shooting. Director Shankar has also been summoned for questioning. Aside from Shankar, stunt choreographer Vinod, crane driver Muniraju and farm owner Puttaraju were summoned too.
As per the News Minute’s report, an action sequence was being filmed for the last five days. A stuntman was elevated using a crane and he was tied to a metal rope. The scene required the stuntman to fall in a small pool of water. As soon as he fell, the stuntman came in contact with a high tension wire and was saved as he was wearing a safety jacket. However, Vivek got electrocuted.
Ajay Rao, who plays the lead role in the movie, gave an interview to The New Indian Express. He said, “I was sitting 200 metres away from the spot where the fight was being shot. I heard their screams and rushed to see what happened and came to know that Vivek died on the spot. I was not part of the scene. A high tension line was nearby and there was water around the spot stocked by the film crew for the fight scene. I refused to be part of the stunt scene due to Covid-19 and I did not wish to come in contact with them.”
Stuntman Vivek’s death is now talk of the town and debate about the safety protocols during shoots in the Kannada film industry has started again. Five years ago, a similar mishap had happened on the sets of the film Maasthi Gudi where two crew members died.
