Tamil Video Jockey-turned-actor Ananda Kannan, who was a popular name in the 90s and early 2000s, passed away due to bile duct cancer. He was 48 years old. Filmmaker Venkat Prabhu, who worked with him in the Tamil film Saroja, confirmed the news. He shared a picture of the actor and tweeted, “A great friend, a great human is no more! #RIPanandakannan my deepest condolences (sic).”
Actor turned politician Gayatri Raguramm also mourned his death. She tweeted, “So shocked about to hear about #Anandakannan.. sweet person. Gone too soon. My condolences to his family and friends. He smiled always and he made others laugh and smile. Om shanti.” Actor Ashok Kumar said, “Dear Brother #Anandakannan You will always live with the positivity you exuded. Godbless U Rest in Peace in Godz Abode and spread smiles & positive vibes up there… Prayers for your family & close loved ones to be blessed with the strength to face this predicament (love) U Brother (sic).”

Talking about Anand, he started his TV career in Singapore, moved to Chennai and joined Sun Music as a video jockey. He is best known for his shows such as Sindubad and Savaal Singapore. In the year 2008, he made his acting debut with Saroja where he had a small role. He later starred in a few movies including Mullum Malarum and Adhisaya Ulagam among others. He also did a song called Aaja Meri Soniye and even featured in advertisements.
After these two movies, he started doing TV shows again for Kadhal Channel. And his show Savaal Singapore made him a constant face on TV. Recently, we reported that Tamil actor-comedian V Kalidass left for heavenly abode. Unfortunately, this year several Tamil celebs passed away. Speaking of Tamil actors and artistes who passed away this year, Tamil actor-comedian Vivekh died on April 17 due to a heart attack. Tamil film producer, writer, and actor Venkat Subha died due to covid complications while Indra Kumar died by suicide. Recently, veteran actor Pandu and singer Kalyani Menon passed away too.
