National Film Award-winning choreographer, Shaik Jani Basha, aka Jani Master – who was arrested under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act last month has been granted bail by the Telangana High Court. Read on to know the conditions applicable to it.
Telangana HC grants Jani Master bail
As reported by Times of India, the Telangana High Court has granted interim bail to choreographer Jani Master in the sexual assault charges he was arrested last month. However, the court has imposed conditions, including that the National Award-winning choreographer must avoid any interference in the victim’s life and maintain contact with investigators. Previously, the Rangareddy district court had denied his bail after multiple postponements.
About the sexual assault case
Master was arrested last month after a 21-year-old employee accused him of sexual harassment over several years, including when she was a minor. The young woman revealed she first met Jani at an event in 2017. Two years later he offered her a job as an assistant choreographer, which she accepted. The alleged sexual assaults took place subsequently, including once when they were in Mumbai for a show. She accused the choreographer of threatening her with physical violence if she filed a complaint, and that he mentally harassed her during photoshoots and rehearsals.
The Cyberabad police registered a case against Jani Master following allegations of assault during outdoor shoots. A zero FIR was initially filed at Raidurgam before being transferred to the Narsingi police station. Charges under the Protection Of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act were also added. Meanwhile, a probe was initiated by the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce into the allegations.

Jani has choreographed several popular songs including Butta Bomma with Allu Arjun and Pooja Hegde and Arabic Kuthu with Vijay and Pooja Hegde. He’s also choreographed Stree 2’s Aaj Ki Raat, Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya’s title track and Laal Peeli Akhiyaan, Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan’s Billi Billi and Jailer’s Kaavaalaa. Jani won the National Award for Best Choreography for the song, Megham Karukaatha.
