Actor Irrfan Khan became the face of the famous Jaipur Theatre Festival, Jairangam. For those unknown, the actor was born in Rajasthan and it is indeed a nostalgic moment for the actor who has lived his childhood in the State.
The Jaipur Theatre Festival started in the year 2011 and Irrfan is excited to represent this festival as he feels this is the perfect time to change the scope of theatre in our country. Speaking to a well-known web portal, the actor said, “I feel glad to be part of this festival that we are able to share theatre with aam aadmi as it is not merely a source of entertainment.”
He further said, “When I was young and wanted to be part of theatre, there were hardly any plays happening in the city. They were either very serious or extremely dramatic. If someone mentioned theatre, people used to look down upon them. Though people were thinking and claiming theatre wouldn’t be here for long, I believe theatre will never fade away and nothing can replace it.”
