Vijay Deverakonda and Mrunal Thakur-led film Family Star has generated quite the buzz since its release. While Vijay is an established actor down south, he dabbled in Bollywood with Puri Jagannadh’s Liger which unfortunately tanked at the box office. Reflecting back on that phase, the actor shared at a press conference how he punished himself after the debacle.
Vijay Deverakonda on punishing himself post Liger debacle
On April 1, Vijay Deverakonda, along with Mrunal Thakur and producer Dil Raju, held a press conference to promote The Family Star. During the event, Vijay was asked about the failure of Liger and how he had changed after the film’s result at the box office. He said, “There is no change in my attitude. I have remained the same before and after the release. The only difference is that I decided not to talk about the results of my films [before release] for the next three movies or so. That’s the punishment I gave myself.”

Before Liger’s release, Vijay said he would start counting box office numbers only after the film crosses Rs 200 crore. However, the film barely managed to collect Rs 48.58 cr in India and ended its global run with around Rs 60 crore.
The Family Star marks the second collaboration between Vijay and director Parasuram after the blockbuster combo of Geetha Govindam.
Vijay’s upcoming movies
After Family Star, Vijay Deverakonda will feature next in the tentatively titled VD12, directed by Goutam Tinnanuri. Vijay will be reportedly essaying the role of a spy in the film.
