Sanjay Leela Bhansali‘s glorious win at the recently announced 63rd National Film Awards brought him and his dream project ‘Bajirao Mastani’ seven awards. Following this win, the director was on cloud nine and to celebrate this victory he threw a lavish party for his industry friends. Many Bollywood personalities like Shah Rukh Khan, Rekha, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Sonam Kapoor and his very own ‘Bajirao’ Ranveer Singh came in for this bash, but his ‘Mastani’ Deepika Padukone who had apparently flown down to Mumbai on Sunday, chose to give this party a miss.
According to sources, “Several big names from the industry turned up for Bhansali’s bash, but onlookers kept wondering why Deepika, who seems to be his current favourite, didn’t show up despite being in town.”
It may be assumed that the actress was unhappy as she lost out this coveted honour for her brilliant performance in ‘Bajirao Mastani’ and Shoojit Sircar’s ‘Piku’ for which she had been picking up Best Actress Award at every Bollywood film awards. But coming to the rescue of the actress, one of her close friends said, “Deepika has been away from family for a long time since she was busy shooting for her maiden Hollywood project with Vin Diesel. She wanted to spend as much time as possible with her parents and sister before she flies back to the US for the shoot. There’s nothing more to it.”
The spokesperson of Deepika Padukone also claimed that the actress, who was last spotted at her friends wedding in Sri Lanka, came to Mumbai for just a few hours. Apart from Deepika, the other actress of this movie Priyanka Chopra also couldn’t attend this celebration as she is busy in her shoot schedule of American television series ‘Quantico’ and Hollywood debut venture ‘Baywatch’.
